There are two types of people in the world

There are two types of people in the world:

Those who can grab a notebook and write whatever they want in it, with whichever writing utensil they have on hand, and mess up and have no problem scribbling things out or even ripping out the page. (*gasp!*)

And then there are those who need to have the right pen and who feel a deep sense of anxiety if they mess up, causing them to spend extra time trying to turn their mistake into something intentional so they don't actually have to cross anything out.

I'm the second type.

Today, while coloring, my 2-year-old migrated from his paper onto my Carrie & Co. planner on my desk. My pristine, crisp black 207 pen on white paper, never-miss-a-day planner.

(If you're the second type like I am, you're probably groaning a bit to yourself right now...)

But, as shocked as I am to say this, it doesn't really bother me that much.

Early on in my business, I wouldn't release anything to the public unless I felt it was PERFECT. That included social posts, my website, courses...you name it.

Woman's hands holding a mug of tea

You know what that led to? A lot of wasted time (and five different courses I've written and never launched just sitting in my Google drive gathering dust...)

Now I understand the importance of the MVP - the minimally viable product.

With the MVP method, you don't wait for something to be perfect to release it. You put out your first draft, so to speak, get feedback, and update and improve it from there.

You don't waste any time perfecting something that your audience might not even want to begin with. Instead, you can start making money and serving people right away while you work on perfecting your offer.

In the end, you'll end up with a meaningful work of art instead of a perfect and yet functionless asset.
